Help using this Download Tool
About GEBCO's Grids
GEBCO's global gridded bathymetric datasets are terrain models for ocean and land at 15 arc-second intervals. You can use this tool to download subsets from these grids and their associated Type Identifier (TID) grid in a selection of widely supported formats.
Selecting a Grid Version
Select which version of the grid that you want to download data for from the 'Select Grid Version ' list. The '?' button provides information about the selected grid version.
Selecting a Geographic Region
A geographic region is defined between two latitudes and two longitudes. Hold down the CTRL key (Windows) or Command key (Mac) and press and hold the left mouse button, then drag a box to select a region on the map. A dialog box appears with the selected area range. If you want to change them, you can click on the coordinate boxes and edit the values.
The geographic region selection dialog box is also used to define the format for data downloads.
Selecting Download Formats
Once you have chosen a geographic region, you can select the format(s) to download your data in from the Download Formats dropdown list in the area selection dialog box.
Download Imagery based on the Bathymetric Grids
You can download imagery based on GEBCO's grids in the form of shaded relief image or colour-coded for elevation image in either JPEG or PNG format. Select the one(s) you want from the Download Formats drop down list in the area selection dialog box.
Adding Data to your Basket
Once you have selected your geographic region and formats, click the 'Add to basket' button from the area selection dialog box. You can add more than one region to download at a time so if required select more regions and add them in the same way.
Submitting your Data Request
When you are ready to download your data, or to manage the items you have added so far, click the 'Your basket' icon at the top right of the app. Click the 'submit' button to submit your data request.
Downloading your Data
Click the 'Download basket' icon to see the status of your data request. When the data are ready, a download link to a zip file containing the items you requested will be visible. You will get your data as a single ZIP file containing all of the regions you have requested.
